WATER SAFETY FIRST RESPONDER

Water Safety and Awareness

This course is designed for those who may be required to respond to still water safety incidents, or for those required to manage or oversee water incidents. Suitable PPE must be available if delivered in the workplace.

Course content

The course includes the Water Safety Awareness syllabus plus:

•  Scene management
• Hydrology and associated hazards
• Correct use of PPE
• Self Rescue
• Use of rescue equipment including lines, reach poles
• Movement in Shallow water
• Casualty Management
• Communication systems

Physically fit for this type of work.

Assessment/Qualification

Assesments to take the form of practical exercises.
 

Certification

Certificates of attendance will be issued by Outreach Rescue and will be valid for 3 years from date of issue.
